Learn all about how Winnipeg uses data and mapping to improve public health.
The Canadian Sustainability Indicators Network (CSIN) is hosting its first webinar of the year. It will focus on the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s (WRHA) Neighbourhood Explorer Toolset (NETs), a web-based data portal that aims to provide WRHA staff and its partners with a credible and comprehensive range of health, community, and landscape (built environment) information designed to support local level public health planning and action. NETs consists of a set of interactive mapping tools, links to external resources, and has extensive on-line help including FAQs, a Blog, on-line tutorials, and instructional videos. Over 200 Public Health staff including 130 front-line public health nurses have received hands-on training in how to use NETs.
The presentation will provide background on how and why NETs was developed (including its technical ecosystem), a live-demonstration of the tool, and an opportunity to discuss issues related to effective knowledge translation in a public health context.
The webinar will take place on November 22nd at 1 p.m. (CST).
The presenter will be Dr. Chris Green, the Senior Epidemiologist in the Public Health program and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and assistant professor in the Department of Community Health Science, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Manitoba.
