From 2006 to 2011, the Global Connectivity program of the International Institute for Sustainable Development has been active in the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF).
We have viewed the IGF as an important venue to bring together civil society actors, governments, the private sector and the technical community to debate the development and deployment of the Internet and to understand its growth and impact as a general purpose technology, underpinning our economies and societies. The following report presents the outcomes of a series of workshops organized by IISD at the IGF from 2008 to 2011 that focus on the intersection of the Internet policy domain and sustainable development.
